Hi,

I have a scenario where let's say I sell off my parent (my father is 74 yrs old and mother is 72 yrs old) 's HDB at bedok TOP was 1978 which was fully paid long time back.

If let's say the bedok hdb can sell for $400K as an example, and then I take cash out $50K to purchase a 3 room hdb worth $450K at Sengkang area, in this case do I still need to wait 5 years then they can rent that 3 room hdb out?

Good morning KC,

You have to fulfill 5 years minimum occupation period before you can get rent out the whole HDB as long as one of the owners is a Singaporean.

Care to share about the intention of this move? How about renting out bedok HDB?

Good morning KC,

Yes you would have to fulfil 5 years minimum occupation period (MOP) before you are allowed to rent out the whole unit, regardless whether the house purchase is fully paid and how it was funded.

Yes, they will need to observe a fresh Minimum Occupation Period when they purchase the next HDB whether as resale or BTO/SBF, before they are eligible to rent out the unit. If I may say, I suppose the rental returns at Bedok could be giving better yield since location is better in a mature estate than Sengkang.
