Recently A China friend of mine came to Singapore with a temporary visit pass. She had apply for LTVP as her daughter is studying in Singapore.
She went around looking for a place to rent and found an agent that rented her a HDB 3-room flat. Both the landlord and Tenant agent told my friend there is no problem. They had signed the Tenancy Agreement and all monies was paid to both the agent.
3 days later, they told her to move out unless she gets a Singapore citizen to do re-sign the Tenancy Agreement.

We do not rent house every other day and is not sure about the regulations. My China friend did ask both the agent if she is allowed to rent and was told she can do it.
Now both agent want to back out from the deal. My friend have already purchased mattress and appliances.
Now she is stuck and do not know what to do.

Any kind advise on what can we do next?

Hi, sorry to hear about the sad plight of your friend. By the way, does your friend’s daughter has any Guardian in Singapore?
